Sea Otter Recovery
Action
Plan Workshops

Sea Otter Action Plan Workshops
The Sea Otter Recovery Team and Fisheries and Oceans Canada
held a series of
coastal workshops between February 7 - February 21, 2004 to draft a Recovery Action Plan for Sea Otters. Sea Otters in
BC
are classified as Threatened by the Committee on the Status of
Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC).
Under the Species at
Risk Act (SARA), an 'Action Plan' is required as the second
component in a 2-part recovery process. The Recovery Action
Plan for Sea Otters in
Canada will detail the specific activities being recommended to implement the
National Recovery Strategy for Sea Otters in
Canada that was drafted in
2003 as the scientific basis to recovering this Species At
Risk.
